"When I was in my Cape Cod studio looking out the window next to my easel, this painting came about in what for me was a very short period of time. Most of the canvas is a product of many first strokes. I was feeling that I was no more than a transmitter of some inner force. What I painted when working on this canvas was not what I saw out the window but what I felt."
